Cheap Yeezy 350
<!-- body { font:12px Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000; background-color: #EEF2FB; margin: 0px; } --> Pharrell Williams has been a Chanel model Cheap Yeezy , film star, composer and brand ambassador. This week, he will make his debut in his new role as co-designer of a capsule collection with the French luxury brand that is set to launch exclusively on Thursday at the opening of Chanel’s first flagship boutique in Seoul, South Korea. To mark the launch, Williams has stepped in front of the camera again for a short film featuring a gang of women and men on a nocturnal road trip, dressed in the rainbow outfits of the Chanel-Pharrell collection — think sweatshirts with embroidered graffiti, terry cloth bucket hats and oodles of rhinestone jewelry. In behind-the-scenes footage shared exclusively with WWD, the multihyphenate explained the process that brought him together with the late Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel’s creative director for 36 years, starting with their sneaker launch at the now-defunct Paris concept store Colette in 2017.“This campaign and this film are about a capsule collection, something that they’ve never done in the history of the brand. They do that not with a designer but with a musician with ambition and dreams,” Williams said. The “Happy” singer, who has received 12 Grammy Awards and heads the multimedia collective I Am Other, was previously one of the ambassadors of Chanel’s Gabrielle handbag, has walked in its runway shows and appeared in a movie directed by Lagerfeld, for which he wrote an original song.An early proponent of gender-fluid dressing, Williams likes to wear Chanel pearls with everything from a tuxedo to a yellow hoodie. The Chanel-Pharrell collection channels the same energy, rooted in founder Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s early habit of borrowing from men’s wardrobes.Lagerfeld regularly included a number of men’s looks, often modeled by his muses Baptiste Giabiconi and Brad Kroenig Cheap Yeezy From China , in his runway shows, although the brand has never marketed a unisex or men’s offer.“Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel didn’t see partitions. And it’s interesting, because neither did the brand when it came to giving me a shot. They didn’t see partitions,” Williams noted.“But they’re not afraid of these things. Just like she wasn’t afraid. There don’t need to be boundaries. As long as you can hold on to the heritage, and continue to push it, like Karl always does, we don’t need walls — we need bridges,” he added.Loosely inspired by the Japanese animation film “Akira,” the film features a diverse cast including Soo Joo Park, Yoon Young Bae, Adesuwa Aighewi, Alton Mason and Anok Yai. Williams on Sunday posted a one-minute cut on Instagram, while the full three-and-a-half-minute version will break on Chanel’s online platforms on Thursday. The capsule line, which will launch from April 4 in selected Chanel boutiques worldwide, consists of some 40 references, including 10 pieces of ready-to-wear such as short and long robes, and color-blocked T-shirts, as well as costume jewelry, sneakers Cheap Yeezy 350 , loafers, mules, sunglasses, hip packs and oversize shoppers. In the video, Aighewi displays the handwritten message on a pair of white sneakers with mismatched laces: “I like this part where it says ‘Women will save the world.’” Yai, meanwhile, provides a close-up of a chain bracelet with a logo that combines the Chanel and Pharrell names, which appears throughout the collection. In the spirit of street art, Williams played around with the brand’s double-C logo, as well as its Coco and No. 5 emblems. “Five has always been Coco’s number. You know, the famous number five. Five is the number for men. It’s also the date of my birthday,” said the rapper, who will turn 46 on April 5.On the back of a long-sleeve T-shirt, he printed a handwritten story about a bet he once made with a friend who predicted a future collaboration with Chanel.“At that time, gender fluidity and these things addressing gender weren’t as loud and pronounced as they are now. I was just doing it because it was just the way I felt,” he recalled. “I lost the bet. It was a bet that I’ve been happy to lose.”This story was reported by WWD and originally appeared on Now that some distance has been put between 2018 and the present, StockX has again released a list of the biggest trends in sneaker resale — along with some hints at what lies ahead. The list identified both the best-selling silhouettes and individual releases over the last year, along with the styles that awarded the greatest markup for buyers, using data from StockX’s sneaker resale platform.Much like in Q4 of 2018 Cheap Adidas Ultraboost , the styles and silhouettes that continue to dominate the resale market come from Nike and Adidas. In particular, the Air Jordan 1, 3 and 4 silhouettes, and nearly anything from Adidas’ Yeezy lineup are still the platform’s best-sellers. Air Jordan styles make up three of the top five best-selling silhouettes on StockX’s platform, and the Air Jordan 1 Retro retains the top spot as the most desirable silhouette in all of sneaker resale. While Air Jordan sneaker silhouettes lead in terms of sales by dollar value, the sneaker styles that move the most volume on the platform all belong to Adidas. The Yeezy Boost 350 V2 “Butter” boasts more than 45,000 sales on StockX, followed by the Yeezy 500 “Solid Grey” Wave Runner with just under 44,000 sales. Those two styles accounted for more than 30 percent of all sales collected by the 10 best-selling sneakers on StockX in terms of sales volume. In third, the Adidas Yeezy Boost 500 “Blush” has sold a little more than 38,000 pairs on the platform. In fact, all five of the top-selling sneakers on StockX were from Adidas’ Yeezy line, which may be a product of the brand’s commitment to manufacturing and distributing more volume in 2018 while only releasing a combined 11 drops between the 350 V2 and 500 silhouettes.Jordan and Nike took the opposite approach and released 184 Jordan retro styles last year, with almost a third of those being Jordan 1’s, according to Highsnobiety, which collaborated with StockX on the list. However, the relative exclusivity of some high-profile Jordan styles on the platform has kept resale prices high for the brand, showcased by the popularity of the Jordan 1 silhouette.StockX and Highsnobiety also took a look at the most valuable individual styles on the platform throughout the year — and of course, the list is a lesson in exclusivity. The most expensive sneaker sold on the platform in the past year was the Nike Mag 2016 Cheap Adidas Ultraboost From China , a re-creation of the shoe Marty McFly wears in the feature film "Back to the Future." With an extremely limited release and a tremendous amount of popular culture carryover, the silhouette has been sought after since it came out three years ago, and a pair recently sold for $24,000 on StockX. Currently, the lowest asking price for a pair of these sneakers on StockX is $38,999.Rounding out the top three most valuable sneakers by individual worth are the Air Jordan Kobe PE Pack, a retro silhouette valued at $12,100, which was produced during retired NBA superstar Kobe Bryant’s lone year as a sneaker endorsement free agent in 2002 — and the $12,000 Air Jordan 5 Transformers Sample. The Transformers Sample never hit retail; instead it was the product of a line that Nike created specifically for Mark Wahlberg for the "Transformers" franchise.According to StockX, when comparing a sneaker’s resale price premium with its original retail price, Nike’s “The Ten” collaboration with Virgil Abloh is nearly untouchable. The Off-White x Air Jordan 1 “UNC” sells for 479 percent of its retail price on the platform. In fact, the three sneakers with the most markup as a percentage of retail price are all Off-White x Nike silhouettes. The Off-White x Nike Air Presto sells for 400 percent of its retail value on StockX, and the Off-White x Nike Blazer Mid sells for 362 percent of its retail price.Editor’s Note: This story was reported by FN’s sister magazine Sourcing Journal.
